2026-07-25
Completely free, and it saves itself
- StructLoads is now completely free. No paid tier, no trial that runs out, no card — unlimited projects and levels, unwatermarked PDF reports, Excel and CSV exports and share links, all of it, for everyone. The €19/mo plan and its caps are gone.
- A free account is now required. Your projects live in that account and save themselves, so there has to be one to save them to. A link from an article still lands you exactly where it pointed — the template you clicked is waiting on the other side of sign-up.
- Everything autosaves. Every edit writes itself within a second or two, with an honest status in the topbar, and closing the tab flushes what is pending first.
- The load library is now a template gallery: worked templates and load presets alike open as a real project of your own, named after what you picked and on your dashboard from the moment it opens.
- A dashboard worth landing on — search, sort, plan thumbnails, level counts, and rename, duplicate or delete on any row — plus a first run that hands new accounts a working example instead of an empty table.

Every kN is accounted for
- Load-path check on every calculation: the load you place on the model, the load resisted at the foundation, and — if they differ — exactly where the difference went. Reported in the studio, on share pages and in the PDF report.
- Columns and walls that stop before the foundation now transfer instead of vanishing. A tower column landing on a podium beam is picked up by that beam and split to its ends by statics; a column standing under another with a different id is recognised as the same column carrying on down.
- Nothing under it? You get told. A vertical element that lands on bare slab is flagged as a break in the load path, with the load it was carrying, on the plan and in the warnings.
- Secondary beams can frame into girders: collector beams now resolve in dependency order, so a joist landing on a girder carries through to the columns instead of stopping at the joint.
- A beam whose end support isn't there, or beams supporting each other in a loop, are reported and fall back to acting as line supports — the load stays in the model either way.
- Point loads can be positioned along a wall or beam, and split to its end supports by their own lever arm rather than riding the tributary centroid.

The drawing becomes the calculation
- Cross-section elevations: select any support for its calc-sheet view — every storey's load joins what arrives from above, with the running ΣV down to the foundation. In the studio, on share pages, and in reports.
- Results on the plan: Model / Tributary / Results view modes pin every element's load on the drawing, with a Service / Factored switch and a load-cases drawer.
- Multi-page PDFs import as levels: per-page scale calibration, basepoint pins so storeys stack true, and geometry snapping while tracing. Walls and beams drag and reshape with endpoint handles; zones, openings and the floor outline edit by vertex.
- Honest detection: walls and columns suggested from the PDF's vectors — and from pixels on scanned drawings — every suggestion accepted or rejected by you.
- Load zones carry their own intensities (plant rooms, balconies); slab openings are true voids that tributary cells re-route around, in 2D and 3D.
- Foundation assist: set an allowable bearing pressure for preliminary pad and strip sizes. Quantities tab: concrete, formwork and reinforcement allowance with every assumption stated.
- Compare schemes: pin Scheme A, keep editing, and read live deltas — foundation ΣV, governing support, concrete, reinforcement — plus the biggest per-support moves.
- Local-first library with portable .structloads files, a one-dialog export center, share pages with live 3D, a guided tour, and a real-footage demo reel at /demo.

Motion & 3D: the load path you can watch
- 3D level stack: toggle "3D" in the studio to fold every storey into an exploded axonometric view — stacked columns ring their ghost projections on the level below, so misaligned load paths jump out.
- Trace loads: watch the load descend the 3D stack level by level, accumulating ΣV until it lands on the foundation total.
- Load-flow animation on the plan: dashes stream from each tributary area into its support, with downward arrows sized by reaction.
- Placement, deletion, dragging, undo and redo all animate — you always see exactly what changed — and alignment guides appear while dragging columns.
- Results in motion: reactions count up on recompute, changed cells flash, and the takedown table shows inline reaction bars.
- Full reduced-motion support: with animations off, every state still communicates instantly.
- New homepage hero: a three-storey building assembles in 3D and traces its load path to the foundations.

Guest studio, engine depth & platform hardening
- The studio is now open without an account — draw, calculate and export as a guest; sign in only to save to the cloud.
- New first-run tour walks through drawing a floor, placing supports, setting loads and reading the takedown.
- Live-load reduction now follows the accumulated tributary area down a multi-storey stack (ASCE 7 §4.7.2).
- Added the Eurocode 6.10a/6.10b alternative combination pair alongside single-expression 6.10.
- Tighter two-way slab distribution: edge beams now match the 45-degree triangle/trapezoid rule within ~2%.
- Free plan: up to 3 saved projects with 3 levels each; Pro unlocks unlimited projects, levels and unbranded reports.
- Behind the scenes: rate limiting, security headers, a health check, error reporting and continuous integration.
